Screening of the filmed version of 'Hadestown: The Musical', the stage musical about Orpheus and Eurydice.
Hadestown: The Musical comes to Vue Cinema in Oxford on Sunday 18 October, a filmed version of the show staged live at the Lyric Theatre in London. It was shot before an audience and features the core five original Broadway cast members, so you're getting the original production rather than a new cast. The recording captures the full staging of the show, and it runs for 141 minutes.
If you're not familiar with the story, it's a retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, woven together with the relationship of Hades and Persephone. Eurydice, driven by poverty, is lured to the industrial underworld of Hadestown by Hades; Orpheus, a struggling musician, ventures down to bring her back. It's a tragic love story, and the recording keeps the original Broadway cast at its centre.

Because it's a recording of a live performance, you're seeing the show as it was staged at the Lyric, not a film shot on a set. The five original Broadway cast members are the ones on screen, and the whole thing runs for 141 minutes, so it's the full show rather than a highlights reel. It's a late one, though: the screening starts at 22:00 on Sunday 18 October at Vue Cinema, and with the 141-minute runtime, it'll take you well past midnight.
