Screening of the feature film based on the BBC sitcom 'Ghosts', in which the ghosts of Button House try to reach their living friends.
Ghosts: The Possession of Button House is coming to VUE Oxford at Ozone Leisure Park on Sunday 25 October, with the screening starting at 22:00. It's the big-screen version of the BBC sitcom Ghosts, so if you've spent the last few years with the residents of Button House, this is the one you've been waiting for.
The story picks up with the ghostly household still adjusting to life without Alison and Mike. When protesters disrupt the construction of the planned hotel, the ghosts have to find a way to reach their living friends. An amateur sΓ©ance goes wrong, and Julian seizes the opportunity to leave the grounds in the body of Jack, a teenage ghost hunter, who in turn gets a crash course in the afterlife. It's a setup that lets the ghosts step out of the house and into the world of the living, which is where most of the new material comes from.
Simon Hynd directs, and the original cast is all back: Mathew Baynton, Charlotte Ritchie, Lolly Adefope, Laurence Rickard, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Ben Willbond, Jim Howick and Martha Howe-Douglas. It's the same ensemble that made the sitcom work, so the chemistry should be right there from the first scene. The film carries a PG certificate for mild scary scenes, rude humour, violence, language and drug references, so it's not strictly for the youngest viewers, though it sits comfortably in the same territory as the show.
