Film screening of the sequel to the BBC series Ghosts, in which three friends try to communicate with the spirits of a haunted house.
Ghosts: The Possession of Button House opens at Phoenix Picturehouse on Friday 23 October, and it's running through to Thursday 29 October. It's a continuation of the original 2019 BBC series, so if you've followed the ghosts of Button House before, you'll know the setup: a haunted house and the spirits who refuse to leave it.
This time around, the plot kicks off with three friends who try to communicate with the spirits and end up in a supernatural adventure. Outside, construction work is in its early stages at Button House, with environmental protesters camped out and causing a headache for local MP Richard Move. Inside, though, business continues as usual for the resident spectres. A group of teenagers, among them a foster child named Jack, break into the house armed with a Ouija board and unwittingly invite the ghost Julian to inhabit Jack's body. The result is a double swap: Jack's ghostly form is condemned to stay at Button House, while Julian leaves the grounds in the teenager's body.
It's directed by Simon Hynd, and the cast brings back the familiar faces: Charlotte Ritchie, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Mathew Baynton, Lolly Adefope and Ben Willbond. If you've seen the series, you'll recognise them as the ghosts who've spent years bickering across the centuries in the same drawing room.
