Family day with hands-on science activities, the Air Table, the Water Lab and woodland trails at the Science Oxford Centre.
Family Day is on at the Science Oxford Centre on Saturday 24 October, from 10:00 to 17:00. It's a full day of hands-on science for families, with the centre open for both indoor and outdoor activities.
Your ticket includes a two-hour session in the Exploration Zone, where the exhibits are meant to be played with rather than just looked at. There's an Air Table to mess about with, a magnetic ball track, and various animation activities to keep smaller hands busy. It's the kind of setup where you can spend a good chunk of the morning just seeing what happens when you push a button or change a setting.
When you've had enough of the indoors, the centre sits on 15 acres of woodland and ponds, so there's plenty of room to stretch out. The Water Lab is one of the outdoor highlights, where you can experiment with floating, sinking, and the way water flows. Beyond that, there are nature trails through the woods, and you can borrow an Explorer Backpack to help spot the local wildlife while you're out. It's a good mix: a focused session inside and then as much time as you like wandering the grounds.
