Screenings of 'Extra Geography', Molly Manners' coming-of-age comedy about two boarding school friends who set themselves a mission to fall in love with their geography teacher.
Extra Geography is playing at The Ultimate Picture Palace on Cowley Road, with screenings on Saturday 17 October (5.45pm), Sunday 18 October (8.15pm) and Thursday 22 October (5.45pm). It's a British coming-of-age comedy drama set in an early-2000s boarding school, where two best friends in their final year set themselves a mission to fall in love with their geography teacher. It's billed as a funny, warm-hearted portrait of female friendship and the closeness of being a teenager, and it runs 1 hour 34 minutes with a 15 rating.
Behind the camera is director Molly Manners, with Marni Duggan, Galaxie Clear, Iyla Sundarsingh McKaig, Alice Englert and Shvorne Marks in the cast. The early-2000s setting puts the whole thing in a specific window — boarding school in its final year, two best friends, and a shared mission that's as much about their friendship as it is about the teacher they've set their sights on. It's a comedy drama, so there's room for both the funny and the heartfelt, and at 94 minutes it doesn't overstay its welcome.
The venue is The Ultimate Picture Palace, Oxford's oldest independent cinema, founded in 1911 and community-owned since 2022.
