Monthly night of original reggae vinyl and exclusive dub plates with guest selectors from vintage sound systems.
Dub Me Always returns to The Picturehouse in Oxford on Wednesday 11 November, the second Wednesday of the month. It's a regular night built around original reggae vinyl and exclusive dub plates, rounded out with guest selectors from vintage sound systems. If you're into the sound of a real sound system, this is exactly where you'll find it.
The whole thing revolves around the records themselves. The core is original reggae vinyl, and the dub plates — those one-off pressings made for a specific sound system — are a big part of the night. It's not a digital set; it's a night for the physical format. Guest selectors from vintage sound systems join in, bringing their own selections to the mix. If you've spent any time around sound system culture, you'll know that's where the real weight of the music comes from.

It runs from 7.30pm to 11.30pm, so it's a long stretch of music that takes its time. There's a change in the room as the night goes on: after 8pm, the Upstairs bar becomes over-18s only. Entry is free, so you can just turn up and settle in. If you're coming early, you'll get the full run; if you're arriving later, just keep the age limit in mind for the Upstairs bar.
