Screening of Aina Clotet's directorial debut, a film about a woman confronting life after breast cancer, presented by the Cambridge Film Trust.
Viva is showing at Phoenix Picturehouse in Oxford on Friday 30 October, as part of the Cinefest Film screening programme. It's the directorial debut of Aina Clotet, who also stars in the lead role, and it's been running at the cinema since 27 October, with screenings continuing through to 13 December.
The film follows a woman confronting life after breast cancer, and it's described as an intimate, fearless tour de force that resists the conventions of male-dominated cinema. Clotet treats illness, sexuality, bodily autonomy and personal reinvention as territories to be redefined, and she carries the whole thing on her shoulders as both director and lead. It runs for 113 minutes and carries an 18 certificate, so it's one for the adults rather than a family outing.
The screening is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity that works to widen access to cinema and support emerging talent. The film itself was released on 21 September 2026, and this is one of its early runs in the city.

As for the venue, Phoenix Picturehouse is a century-old cinema with two screens and a friendly upstairs bar, and it runs a Kids' Club with UNICEF that brings families together through the love of cinema. Viva is showing there from 27 October to 13 December, so if you can't make the 30th, you've got plenty of other dates to choose from.
