Punk collective Codefendants play the O2 Academy Oxford with Rat Boy as support.
Codefendants play the O2 Academy Oxford on Sunday 18 October, with Rat Boy supporting. It's a Sunday night gig, so you'll have Monday morning to recover.
If you're not familiar with them, Codefendants are a punk collective that blends alternative, hip hop and rock into a sound they call 'Crimewave'. The trio came together when Get Dead vocalist Sam King's graffiti crew started doing tattoos and making flash art to support rapper Julio 'Ceschi' Ramos while he was in prison; the two later met at the Gilman Street Project in Berkeley, California, where they bonded over hip hop and punk rock. They brought in NOFX bassist Fat Mike as lead producer, studio bassist and additional songwriter, and their debut, This Is Crime Wave, was voted Punk Rock Vinyl album of the year in 2023, drawing praise from Kerrang, Dying Scene, Outburn and New Noise Magazine.
2026 is a big year for them: they're releasing their second studio album, LIFERS, and touring the world. This Oxford date is part of that run, so you'll hear the new material alongside the older stuff. Rat Boy opens the night, so there are two acts on the bill.
