London Concertante plays a handful of opera's greatest showstoppers with four soloists, from Mozart to Puccini and Verdi.
London Concertante bring A Night at the Opera to Oxford Town Hall on Saturday 17 October and Sunday 18 October, both nights starting at 7:30pm. It's one of their most popular shows, and they're billed as one of the country's leading chamber ensembles.
The whole evening is built around a handful of opera's greatest showstoppers. Four soloists take the stage, singing solo arias as well as duets, trios and quartets, all accompanied by a live orchestra. The repertoire draws on Mozart, Puccini, Verdi and Rossini, with works such as The Magic Flute, La traviata, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Turandot, The Barber of Seville, Carmen, Così fan tutte and Rigoletto. Among the highlights are 'Largo al factotum', the 'Toreador Song', 'O mio babbino caro' and 'Nessun dorma'.

The performance runs about two hours with an interval, so it's a full evening rather than a short set. The series is funded by Arts Council England, Oxford Council, the University of Oxford, St John's College and UK Theatre. Tickets start from £27.50, which includes the booking fee.
