The Wollaton Winter Light Trail returns with illuminated displays, food stalls, a funfair and mulled wine, turning the historic grounds into a winter wonderland.
The Wollaton Winter Light Trail returns to the Formal Gardens at Wollaton Hall & Deer Park from Wednesday 25 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027. It's back after a debut last Christmas, and this time the historic grounds are turned into a wonderland of light, sound and seasonal storytelling. Large-scale illuminated displays, atmospheric environments and festive surprises line the route, with marshmallow toasting, independent food vendors, mulled wine, frosty biers, hot chocolate, a kid's funfair and mini chalets along the way. Dogs are welcome, too.
The trail is part of a wider Christmas programme at Wollaton Hall that brings the house interiors to life. The Festive Hidden History Tour takes you below stairs to the Prospect Room, the Victorian Bedroom, the Tudor Kitchens and the Lower Basement, while Santa's 12 Days of Christmas is a wintery walk inside the Hall on weekends. On Saturday 19 December, a pop-up carol concert fills the great hall, and the Nottingham Industrial Museum's Nottingham Folk Ensemble plays Christmas songs in the courtyard on select weekends.
