A 20-minute drone show with 250 synchronised drones bringing Nottingham's history and legends to life in the night sky.
Drone Show: Nottingham City of Legends comes to the Forest Recreation Ground on Thursday 5 November, with 250 synchronised drones taking to the night sky. It's a 20-minute display that uses the drones to trace out Nottingham's history, its legendary characters and the stories the city is known for, all set to a bespoke soundtrack. The show is commissioned by Nottingham City Council as part of its annual programme of free and low-cost events, funded through the Council's £25 million additional investment package.
There are two shows on the night, so you can pick the one that suits you best. The Early Show has gates opening at 5pm with the display starting at 6.30pm, and the Late Show opens at 7.30pm with the drones taking off at 9pm. Both run for 20 minutes. The venue is the Forest Recreation Ground on Gregory Boulevard in Forest Fields, NG7 6HB.
Behind the scenes, the show is delivered in partnership with Light Dynamix, a drone manufacturer based right here in Nottinghamshire. They design and build professional drone technology for the live entertainment industry and supply systems to operators putting on large-scale shows around the world, so this one is a local firm working on its own turf. Councillor David Mellen, Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, says the display celebrates the stories, characters and heritage that make Nottingham unique and shows the city's commitment to high-quality activities that bring people together while supporting the local economy.

Tickets are £10 for adults (17+) and £5 for children (16 and under). If you're a Nottingham city resident, it's £2 for adults and £1 for children — you'll just need your council tax number and postcode to get the resident rate. A couple of practical things to keep in mind: you can't watch the aerial display from outside the designated event area, so you'll need a ticket to see it, and there's no public car parking on site.
