Free community party where neighbours and local experts share their real-life experiences of home energy upgrades, part of the EMCCA Festival of Retrofit.
The Whole House Retrofit Party is coming to Nottingham Central Library on Wednesday 4 November, from 18:30 to 20:00. It's a free community session run in collaboration with EH-UP Energy Efficient Homes - Upgrade Programme, and it's part of the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) Festival of Retrofit — a programme of events running across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire that brings home retrofitting to life and helps people take the next step with confidence.
The evening is built around hearing from neighbours and local industry experts who've actually done the work. They'll talk through their real-life experiences of home energy upgrades: the challenges they ran into, the lessons they learned along the way, and the difference the work has made to their homes. It's not a theoretical presentation; it's people talking about what happened when they actually started retrofitting their own houses.
Past attendees have said the presenters clearly outlined the issues anyone wanting to retrofit might face and offered solutions to overcome them, which helped them make informed decisions in line with their own planned home renovations. If you've been thinking about upgrading your home but aren't sure where to start, this is a good place to hear how other people in the area have handled it.

The wider festival also includes DIY workshops, open eco homes, and open home visits, so there are other ways to get involved beyond this one session. The party itself is free to attend, though you'll need to register for a free space. It runs from 18:30 to 20:00 at Nottingham Central Library, 1 Carrington Street, Nottingham NG1 7FH.
