Free author talk by LC Winter, historical gothic writer and gardener, on poisons and crime fiction, part of The Crime Residency at Nottingham City Libraries.
LC Winter is coming to Nottingham Central Library on Monday 2 November for a talk called The Poisonous Past. It's part of The Crime Residency, a programme run by Nottingham City Libraries that's inspired by the Queen of Crime exhibition, bringing together mystery, detective fiction and creative events for all ages. This session is for ages 16 and over.
Winter, who also goes by Libby, is a writer of historical gothic and a professional gardener. Those two things run right through her work: she's spent her time working in the soil of historic buildings and grew up with Sherlock Holmes and antiques. Her interest in poisons, both historical and contemporary, and her love of classic crime fiction led to her book Spider, Spider, in which poison plays a major role. Her stories weave together poisonous plants, secret compartments, witch balls and guttering candles in the dark.
