Science show 'Emergence' by Professor Brian Cox, bringing together science, history, music and creative displays to celebrate the universe.
Professor Brian Cox is coming to the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham on Thursday 29 October, as part of his Emergence world tour. If you've followed his work, you'll know him as the physicist and science communicator who has fronted BBC science programmes for the last 15 years — from the Peabody Award-winning Wonders of the Solar System to the worldwide hit The Planets.
This is a new show, following Horizons, which played to nearly half a million people across the globe. Emergence is a celebration of the universe: the laws of nature that sculpted it, galaxies in the cosmic web, black holes and the earth's interlinked ecosystems. It's not just a lecture, either; the evening brings together science, history, music, creative displays and nature, so it's as much about the visuals and the sound as it is about the physics.
Cox is a physicist by trade, and that's where the talk starts — with the laws of nature that shaped the universe. From there it scales up to the cosmic web and the galaxies within it, then down to black holes and the interlinked ecosystems of the earth. It's a wide-ranging look at how the universe works, from the largest scales down to the ones we live in.
