The 2006 Christmas romcom 'The Holiday' screened on a cinema screen while a full concert orchestra plays its score live, marking the film's 20th anniversary.
The Holiday in Concert comes to the Royal Concert Hall on Monday 23 November, with the film running on an HD cinema-size screen while a full concert orchestra plays the score live. It's the 2006 Christmas romcom The Holiday as you remember it, just with the music performed right there in the room rather than coming from the speakers. The show marks the 20th anniversary of the film's release, and it's part of a run that goes through November and December, following a sell-out run last Christmas.
Senbla Live Events are behind the production, and the whole thing is recommended for ages 13 and over. The critics have been fairly consistent on what it's like: the Manchester Evening News called it "a magical way to watch a Christmas movie", Sussex World described it as "a stroke of genius – a fabulous new way to see a film", and the Brighton Journal pointed out the fun of having live music backing every moment. It's a family-friendly one, and it's built for movie lovers as much as music fans.
