Film screening of 'The Hanging Stars' at The Old Cold Store, the industrial event space next to Castle Rock Brewery's Vat and Fiddle.
The Hanging Stars are playing The Old Cold Store on Saturday 6 November, with support from the Liverpool-based collective Sunstack Jones. It's a double bill in one of the city's more tucked-away spots, so if you're not familiar with the area, it's worth knowing exactly where you're heading before the night.
The Old Cold Store is an industrial event space with its own private bar, and it sits right in the middle of a particular corner of the city. It's sandwiched between the Vat and Fiddle — Castle Rock Brewery's brewery tap — and the brewery yard, so you're effectively in the heart of the brewery site. If you've spent any time around there, you'll know the Vat and Fiddle is a 1930s art deco pub that's picked up a fair few accolades lately: it was voted Nottingham CAMRA's LocAle Pub of the Year 2025, runner-up in CAMRA's Nottingham Pub of the Year 2026, and made the Telegraph's Top 48 Pubs in the Country, as well as being named the best pub in Nottinghamshire 2026. Being right next door means you're a few steps from a proper pint before or after the music.
On the night, The Hanging Stars take the main slot, with Sunstack Jones opening the bill. The former are a well-known name in the folk and alt-country scene, and the latter bring the Liverpool collective's sound to the Nottingham crowd. Between the two, you've got a full evening of live music in one room.
