Creative writing masterclass led by poet Tara Singh for the disabled and chronically ill writers' collective Tentacles, held at Nottingham Central Library.
Tara Singh is leading a creative writing masterclass at Nottingham Central Library on Saturday 7 November, starting at 11:00. The session is run by Tentacles, a writers' collective run by and for disabled and chronically ill people, and it's designed for anyone who considers themselves d/Deaf, disabled, neurodivergent and/or chronically ill. It runs as a hybrid, so you can join in person at the library or online.
Singh is a Nairobi-born, Punjabi, queer, disabled, chronically ill and neurodivergent poet and facilitator. They left medical school in their fourth year of training because of illness and spent more than a decade housebound before turning to poetry during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their work looks at the Indian diasporic experience, queerness, gender identity, intergenerational trauma, mental health, disability and belonging. Their debut pamphlet, Fr⚘gm∞nts⊗ (Five Leaves Publications, 2025), was longlisted for the Jhalak Prize, and they co-founded Shaded Writers, a writing collective for QTIBPOC.
The session asks writers to find and name their 'multitudes' — the different fragments that make up the whole. It's a workshop rather than a lecture, so you'll be writing alongside others rather than just listening. If you're not in the city that day, the online option means you can still take part from home.
