Screening of the animated family film Tad & The Magic Lamp at the Savoy Cinema on Derby Road.
Tad & The Magic Lamp is playing at Savoy Cinema over the half-term break, with screenings running from Thursday 22 October through to Sunday 25 October. It's a 94-minute animated feature, rated U by the BBFC and described as suitable for all ages, so it's one of those easy picks for a family outing when the kids are off school.
The story picks up with Tadeo and Sara as parents to a spirited two-year-old girl named Olimpia, and it opens with them navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood during a holiday in London. Things take a turn when Sara finds the legendary magical lamp from One Thousand and One Nights, and Momia, consumed by jealousy, wishes to travel back in time to when Tadeo was young and the centre of attention. The whole group, including Jeff, Belzoni and Ramona, ends up journeying across the Atlantic to the lost city of Paititi, then on to Greece and the heart of the Middle East, all the way to the cave of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. It blends adventure, family bonds and a touch of magic.
There are plenty of times to choose from across the four days, so you can fit it around whatever else you've got on. On Thursday 22 October, there's a 10:30 screening. Friday 23 October has two: 10:00 and 12:15. Saturday 24 October also has two, at 11:50 and 13:50, and Sunday 25 October runs a single session at 12:00. That's six screenings in total, mostly in the mornings and early afternoons, which makes it a decent option for a mid-morning trip with the little ones before the rest of the day takes over.
