Screening of the animated film Monster Mia, about a girl who discovers her classmates are monsters at Rotwood Academy.
Monster Mia is playing at the Savoy Cinema on Derby Road, with screenings running from Tuesday 27 October through to Sunday 1 November. It's an animated film that follows free-spirited 12-year-old Mia and her scruffy pet rat, Quentin, who are sent to the mysterious Rotwood Academy after too many problems at school. The new place gives her the creeps, and she soon discovers that her classmates are actually monsters; for the first time in her life, she finally fits in.
From there, the story turns into a bit of a balancing act. Mia has to figure out a way out before the other students realise she isn't a monster like them, all while Vice Principal Van Vlad makes his particular dislike for humans known. It eventually grows into an adventure in which she has to unite humans and monsters to stop the wicked headmaster's disastrous plans, with themes of belonging and acceptance running through it. The film runs 82 minutes and carries a BBFC U rating, so it's one you can take the younger ones along to.
