Public skating sessions at The National Ice Centre, with a dedicated Tots Zone for under-fives and a disco session.
Public skating is running at The National Ice Centre on Friday 23 October, and it's one of those things that's on the go throughout the week. During term time, sessions run Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so you've got plenty of options to fit it around your week. If you're planning a trip during the school holidays, though, you'll want to check the October Half Term schedule for those specific dates.
The venue is right in the heart of Nottingham at Bolero Square, Belward St, NG1 1LA. It's the city's home of skating and the UK's premier ice venue, with a fair bit of history behind it — Torvill & Dean made their mark here, and it still trains many of Great Britain's brightest young skaters, housing the GB Speed Skating Team and CBBC's Ice Stars. The rink welcomes all ages and abilities, and it's accessible too, with pushchairs and wheelchairs allowed. Under-5s skate for free in a dedicated Tots Zone, which is designed to help the little ones build their confidence on the ice.
Beyond the standard public sessions, there's a bit more on the programme. There's a disco session with music and lights, a Parent and Tots session, and themed skating with seasonal surprises during the October Half Term. So, depending on when you go, you might find something a bit different from the usual lap.
