Public ice skating sessions across the October half term at The National Ice Centre, with free under-fives, skating lessons and a Holiday Club for children.
The National Ice Centre is running public skating throughout the October half term, from Friday 16 October to Sunday 1 November. It's the home of Torvill & Dean, and they describe it as the coolest place to skate in Nottingham. Public sessions are pitched as a friendly, fun way to spend time with family and friends while staying active on the ice, and they welcome all ages and abilities: pushchairs and wheelchairs are allowed on the rink, and under-fives skate for free all year.
Beyond the general public sessions, the rink is packed with specific programmes across the half term. There are intensive three-day skating lessons for those wanting to get a bit more serious about it, and a Holiday Club for children aged 7 to 13 that combines craft activities and multi-sports with a cooked in-house lunch. There's also a junior ice hockey clinic and themed tots sessions for the smaller ones.
Halloween brings its own additions to the mix, with a Friday Night Disco and a Saturday Family Disco, plus seasonal surprises throughout. Between the public skating, the lessons, the kids' club, the hockey clinic and the themed sessions, there's a fair bit to pick from depending on who you're bringing along.
