Free night cycling ride through cycle lanes and quiet back streets of Nottingham, led by Pedals and Women in Tandem to call for safer streets for women.
Nottingham Glow Ride comes to Market Square on Thursday 22 October, part of a series of glow rides being staged by Women in Tandem across the UK. The ride is led by the city's cycle campaign group Pedals alongside Women in Tandem, a Nottingham-based not-for-profit that supports and empowers women of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to ride bikes, taking in cycle lanes and quiet back streets.
There's a bit more to it than just a night out on two wheels. These rides are part of Cycling UK's MyRideOurRight campaign, which argues that cycling should feel liberating rather than intimidating. The idea is to fill the streets with light, make women's experiences visible and highlight the urgent need for safer streets in every community. By riding together in a visible, lit-up group, it puts a spotlight on the very thing the campaign is calling for.
