A double-bill of work-in-progress performances, including 'Tea for Two' by David Gibbons and 'Urgent Mandatory Training' by Jasmine Ballard, at Nottingham Playhouse.
Nothing is Wrong comes to Nottingham Playhouse on Friday 23 October, a double bill of work-in-progress performances that runs for 45 minutes without an interval. It's part of the AMPLIFY: SEASONS - AUTUMN 2026 programme, and it brings together two new pieces from different writers.
The first half is Tea for Two by David Gibbons, a bittersweet two-hander that blends dark comedy and romance. It's Gibbons' writing debut, and he's a Leicestershire actor-musician whose stage credits include the National Theatre workshop of Pride, Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, Prince Justin in Sleeping Beauty, and Odd Job in the award-nominated Snow White at Blackwood Miners' Institute. He's also appeared in The Mercy Seat, The Jury, Rough Sleeper, San Domino, and Seasons of Larson. Outside the theatre, he co-leads the acoustic duo Acoustic Notation and runs puppetry masterclasses for Les Enfants Terribles. Tea for Two runs for 25 minutes.
Following that is Urgent Mandatory Training, a dark comedy set in a corporate world, written and performed by Jasmine Ballard. Her 2025 script False Start reached the final of the Sitcom Mission competition, and she was picked for the first Pirate Productions Writer's Development Group. Her piece runs for 20 minutes, taking the total for the night to 45.
