A new production of August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Fences, directed by Daniel Bailey, returning to the UK for the first time in over a decade.
August Wilson's Fences is coming to Nottingham Playhouse from 10 to 14 November, with press night on Tuesday 10 November at 7.30pm. It's a new production directed by Daniel Bailey, who previously worked on Red Pitch in the West End, and it marks the play's return to the UK for the first time in more than a decade.
For those who haven't come across it, Fences is a Pulitzer Prize winner set in the 1950s, often described as one of the defining plays of the 20th century. At its heart, it's a portrait of grief, love and family life in post-war Black America, and it's the kind of story that stays with you long after the curtain goes down.
There's a good range of access performances scheduled throughout the run: an audio-described show, a captioned performance and a BSL-interpreted performance. There's also a touch tour, which lets blind and partially sighted people explore the stage, set, props and costumes before the show begins. Assistance dogs are welcome, too.
