Adam Penford pantomime in which plucky Aladdin outwits a wicked sorcerer with the help of a hilarious genie, as a festive family spectacular.
Aladdin opens at Nottingham Playhouse on Friday 27 November 2026 and runs through to Saturday 16 January 2027, so it's on for a good chunk of the Christmas break. It's written and directed by Adam Penford, and it follows the plucky Aladdin as he tries to prove himself to the Princess and outwit a wicked sorcerer, with a hilarious genie and plenty of panto magic to help him along. Penford bills it as a festive family spectacular, and it's built around the usual panto chaos: spectacular costumes, amazing special effects and comedy throughout.
Leading the cast is Nottingham's favourite dame, John Elkington, who'll be fronting the production. The show is also put on with accessibility in mind, with captioned, audio described, BSL interpreted, relaxed and dementia-friendly performances scheduled throughout the run, so there's a version that works for different needs.
