Stand-up comedy show by climate scientist Matt Winning, presented by NCF Comedy, at Canalhouse.
Matt Winning brings his stand-up show Solastalgia to The Canalhouse on Sunday 8 November, as part of the Nottingham Comedy Festival. Winning is a climate scientist with an LLB, MSc and PhD, and the author of the bestseller Hot Mess; he also hosts the BBC Radio 4 series Net Zero: A Very British Problem. The show is directed by Ben Target, a double Fringe First Award winner who, as the description notes, is not a climate scientist.
The story hands Winning an ultimatum: save the world by lunchtime tomorrow or sell his soul for a slice of Rockefeller's fortune. It follows the choice he makes while his son is being born, and draws on his own experiences to range from karaoke with bankers to petrol station bathrooms and the United Nations. He describes it as a story about fatherhood, finance and facing the future.
Winning is a Paisley boy who co-created the cult hit Bearpit Podcast with Lolly Adefope, Mat Ewins, Richard Gadd, Adam Hess and John Kearns. He first appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe in The Comedy Zone in 2013 and won Hilarity Bites New Act in 2011. Solastalgia is presented by NCF Comedy.
