Stand-up comedy show by Jules O'Brian, presented by NCF Comedy, at Canalhouse as part of the Nottingham Comedy Festival.
Jules O'Brian brings her show Avoid Excessive Cleavage (and Other Advice to Ignore) to Canalhouse on Saturday 7 November, as part of the Nottingham Comedy Festival. It's a matinee, starting at 4pm, so it's one of those gigs you can catch in the afternoon and still have your whole evening ahead of you.
O'Brian is an award-nominated stand-up and a former secondary school teacher who works across the UK comedy circuit. The show takes the unsolicited advice she says keeps coming her way about being in her fifties, from what not to wear to dating sites for people 'hurling towards death' and using magic sticky tape to disguise droopy jowls. She stages it with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of Liz Hurley and her friend Pinot, on what she calls a 'Middle Age Crusade' to silence that kind of advice. Reviewer Jo Enright called the act 'razor-sharp', noting her intelligence, wit and humour.
