Friday night of Kill Team, the Warhammer 40K skirmish game, at Games Haven, with everything provided for newcomers.
Games Haven is hosting another Friday Kill Team Night on 23 October, starting at 18:30. It's a dedicated evening for Kill Team, the skirmish-scale spin-off of Warhammer 40,000, where you lead a small squad of miniatures into a tight, tactical battle rather than moving whole armies across a table. The night is open to veteran players and newcomers alike, so it works whether you've been painting miniatures for years or you've never even seen a d6.
If you've never played before, there's a bit of a safety net: the organisers provide everything you need for your first few games. That means you can get stuck in and learn the rules without having to buy half the Imperium first, which is a welcome way to ease into the hobby before you decide which squad you actually want to build and paint. Once you've got the basics down, you'll be playing alongside people who know the game inside out, so there's plenty of room to move from learning the ropes to playing proper matches.
Games Haven itself is Nottingham's dedicated community hub for tabletop gaming, combining retail, organised play and inclusive events for players of all ages and abilities. It's the kind of place where the gaming is the main thing, not a side project, so you'll find plenty of like-minded people around on a Friday night.

It's free if you're a member, otherwise it's £8.50, and there's free tea and coffee to keep you going through the rounds. The night kicks off at 18:30 at Games Haven, 92 Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham, NG1 1EH.
