Relaxed, dementia-friendly screening of 'By the Light of the Silvery Moon' at Arnold Library, with tea, biscuits and chat.
Arnold Library is screening By the Light of the Silvery Moon on Thursday 29 October, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, with doors opening 20 minutes before the film starts. It's part of Nottinghamshire libraries' autumn season of Relaxed Film Screenings, which are dementia-friendly, autism-friendly and relaxed for all.
The film itself is a U-rated story set in a small Indiana town, following the Winfield family. Marjorie Winfield's boyfriend, William Sherman, returns from the Army after the First World War, and their on-again, off-again relationship forms the backdrop to other family issues, driven by her little brother Wesley's overactive imagination and tall tales.
What makes this a relaxed screening is the way it's run. The lighting and volume are kept sensitive, and anyone watching is invited to talk, sing and move during the film rather than sitting in silence. If you need a break, there's a quiet space available in the main library. It's designed so you can watch the film in a way that works for you, without the pressure of a traditional cinema setting.

Tickets are £1 per person, and you can book them through Eventbrite or at the library. The session includes tea, biscuits and chat, so it's as much about the company as the film. It runs from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at Arnold Library in Nottingham on Thursday 29 October.
