Sustainable clothes-swap night where you bring a bag of clothing donations and take home a similar amount, with nothing to pay.
After.shwop is back at New Art Exchange on Friday 13 November, from 7pm to 10pm. It's a Nottingham-based clothes swap that works as a sustainable alternative to conventional shopping: you bring a bag of clothing donations and take home a similar amount of something else. There's no buying or selling, and you don't pay for the items you take home.
The idea is to cut fast-fashion overconsumption, give clothes a new life and bring like-minded people together. It's a straightforward swap β what you bring is what you get back, so the more you're happy to part with, the more you can look forward to taking home. It's a good way to clear out the things you no longer wear and find something new without spending a penny.
The night is hosted at New Art Exchange, a contemporary arts space on Gregory Boulevard. It's the largest centre in the UK dedicated to culturally diverse arts, and it runs free exhibitions, talks, creative workshops and family activities. There's also a CafΓ©Bar serving a world food menu and Fairtrade coffee, so you can grab a drink or a bite before or after the swap. It's a space that's as much about the community it brings together as the art it shows, which fits the spirit of the night.

So, if you've got a bag of clothes you're ready to move on, bring them along to New Art Exchange at 39-41 Gregory Boulevard, NG7 6BE, on Friday 13 November. It runs from 7pm to 10pm, so you've got plenty of time to browse through what others have brought and find a few things to take home.
