A charming animated film by Studio Ghibli, Arrietty, shown in its subtitled version at the independent Broadway Cinema in Nottingham.
Arrietty is coming to Broadway Cinema on Friday 16 October, the first of several screenings of the Studio Ghibli film. This one's the subtitled version, so you'll hear the original Japanese voices rather than the English dub. It's a charming animated story directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, following a young borrower navigating a world that's far larger than her own. The voice cast for the English version includes Saoirse Ronan, Tom Holland and Olivia Colman, and the whole thing runs 95 minutes with a U rating.
If you're not in the mood for subtitles, there are plenty of other ways to catch it over the next week. The dubbed version plays on Saturday 17 October at 14:15 and again on Sunday 18 October at 14:15. On Monday 19 October, there's a dubbed screening at 18:00 as part of Cosy Craft Cinema, and on Thursday 22 October, a relaxed dubbed screening at 17:30. So whether you want the original audio, a weekend matinee, or a more accessible relaxed session, you've got a few options to choose from.
Broadway is Nottingham's independent four-screen cinema in Hockley, run as a registered charity. They program new releases alongside world cinema, Q&As, relaxed and captioned screenings, film courses and venue hire, and they screen some of the best new films straight from the BFI London Film Festival. It's a good spot for catching something a bit different from the usual multiplex fare.
