Animorsels - Video Nasties

Animorsels are back at The Old Cold Store on Tuesday 27 October, their next animation night in the city. The session is called Video Nasties, and it's a bit of a departure from their usual fare: they're billing it as "spooky animated high jinks & drinks", with ghoulish short animations and a warning that it'll be extra spooky, very gory and pretty horrifying, with themes unsuitable for children. If you're not in the mood for blood and guts, this probably isn't the one for you.

The guest speaker is Lee Hardcastle, a claymation animator and director who's worked with the likes of Adult Swim, Disney+ and Burger King. He'll be joined by Karl Poyzer, talking on The Weaponised Power of Generalism, and Oz Durose, who'll be talking through the making of his animated short Grave. There's also a screening of entries from the latest animation challenge.

For those who haven't come across them, Animorsels is Nottingham's own animation and motion meet-up, a gathering of creative folk and stop-motion mavericks run by Bottletop, a Nottingham animation studio, with support from RTS Midlands. The nights alternate between main animation nights, built around a guest speaker and a selection of short films, and more general socials, and they bring together the local community to watch animation, make it, learn new techniques and meet people. Each night also sets a microMorsels animation challenge — a brief with a different theme each time and a strict twenty-second limit.

The Old Cold Store is at the Vat & Fiddle pub on Queensbridge Road, NG2 1NB. Doors open at 6pm, with the main action kicking off around 6:45pm, and the whole thing running until 11pm. Tickets are £8.00 via Eventbrite.
