Jo Brand talks about her memoir 'Decline and Falling Over' and holds an audience Q&A at Broadway Cinema.
Jo Brand is coming to Broadway Cinema on Thursday 12 November, where she'll be talking about her new book, Decline and Falling Over. It's a Waterstones event, so it's as much a book launch as it is a night out. The session starts at 6:30 pm, and the talk is followed by an audience Q&A, so you'll get to hear her answer questions from the room rather than just listening to her hold the floor.
Decline and Falling Over is Brand's memoir about ageing, and she's very clear about what it is and isn't. She describes it as a blunt, unscientific and largely unresearched take on growing older, rather than a 'life begins after menopause' pep talk. It's full of the kind of hot takes you'd expect from her: she writes about lying unconscious under a surgeon's knife and mentions a jam and mongoose sperm emulsion she admits she made up. She talks about becoming an 'invisible' older woman and the joys of selective deafness, and the night closes with the Q&A, so you'll get to hear her respond to the crowd in person.
