Author Elif Shafak talks about her new novel 'In One Brief Moment All Eternity' followed by an audience Q&A, presented by Waterstones.
Elif Shafak is coming to St Mary's Church on Tuesday 3 November, for an evening talking about her new novel, In One Brief Moment All Eternity. The talk is presented by Waterstones, and it's built around the book, with a Q&A to follow when she takes questions from the audience.
Shafak is a British-Turkish novelist and storyteller who's published 21 books, translated into almost 60 languages. You might know her from 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in this Strange World or The Island of Missing Trees. She's a President of the Royal Society of Literature, has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize twice, and is a vocal advocate for women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights and freedom of expression.
In One Brief Moment All Eternity spans decades and continents, from revolutionary 19th-century France to Istanbul, Egypt and Beirut. It reimagines the life of Gustave Flaubert through the real and fictional women who shaped him. That's the book she'll be talking about on the night, so it's a good one to have read if you want to follow the conversation.
