Samhain celebration with a three-course meal, an ancestral ritual and a 'calling in the spirits' of ancestors, hosted by Shaun (Silvercrow) and Claire.
A Samhain Supper takes place at Cosy Club on Thursday 29 October, from 19:00 to 22:00. It's hosted by Shaun, who goes by Silvercrow, and his partner Claire. Shaun is a practising witch and folklorist based here in Nottingham, and he's the one leading the evening.
He frames the night as a celebration of Samhain rather than a Halloween party. Samhain is an ancient seasonal threshold marking the end of harvest and the beginning of winter, a time to remember those who came before. The whole evening centres on food, ritual and remembrance: guests sit at a table of no more than 13 places for a three-course meal, an ancestral ritual and a 'calling in the spirits' of ancestors and of those they have lost, alongside thoughtful conversation. It's a slow, shared meal rather than a quick bite, and the ritual is built into the sitting.
Shaun and Claire ask attendees to turn up in smart-casual attire and to leave the modern and mundane behind for the few hours. The table limit keeps it small, so you're sitting with a handful of other people rather than a crowd.
