Open mic night at the dive bar and music venue Voodoo Daddy's, with music, poetry, comedy, dance, drag and magic.
Voodoo Daddy's Open Mic is back at Voodoo Daddy's Showroom on Tuesday 20 October, starting at 7:00 pm. It's one of those nights where the line-up changes every time because it's built on whoever turns up on the night.
The open mic format means it's not just music. You'll get poetry, comedy, dance, drag, magic, and a fair few things that don't fit into any of those boxes. Because it's an open mic, the acts are usually local people stepping up to the mic — some might be seasoned performers, others might be trying something out for the first time. That's the whole point of it: you get a bit of everything in one evening, and the variety is part of the draw.
If you've never been, Voodoo Daddy's Showroom is on London Street in the city centre. They describe themselves as Norwich's best and only dive bar and music venue, a room that pairs cocktails and live music with retro video games. It's a spot that leans into the dive bar side of things, so it's more about the atmosphere than anything polished.
