Heavy rock night with Portland power trio Hippie Death Cult, London psych act Okay You Win and local Norwich doomcrust band Commoner.
Hippie Death Cult headline Voodoo Daddy's on Thursday 29 October, with Okay You Win and Commoner on the bill. It's a heavy rock night, and the three bands pull from different ends of that: psychedelic rock from the US, desert rock from London, and doomcrust from right here in Norwich.
Hippie Death Cult are a power trio from Portland, Oregon. Eddie Brnabic is on guitar, Laura Phillips handles bass and vocals, and Harry Silvers is on drums. They describe their sound as a blend of vintage psychedelia, thunderous riffs and soulful introspection — the sort of thing that sits somewhere between a heavy psych trip and a slow-burn. They're the main draw of the night, and they're coming a long way from the Pacific Northwest to get here.
Okay You Win are a London heavy psych and desert rock act, and they're touring on the back of their album End of Days. They've also played Desertfest London, so they're well-versed in the heavier, sun-baked side of psych. The band features members of Empty Friend and Cavalli, two names that'll be familiar if you've spent any time in the UK's psych and stoner rock scene.

Commoner open the night. They're a local Norwich doomcrust band, which puts the whole evening in context: you've got the American psych trio, the London desert rock act, and the local doomcrust outfit all on one bill. It's a heavy night across the board, and it starts with the home-town band.
Doors are at 19:00, and the music runs through to 22:30. Tickets are £17.76, and the venue is Voodoo Daddy's, 68a London St, NR2 1JT.
