A new family ballet for all ages by Varna International Ballet, based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale, with music by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Pugni and Grieg.
Varna International Ballet bring Snow White to Norwich Theatre Royal on Wednesday 10 February, as part of their 2027 UK tour. It's a family ballet based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale: Snow White flees the vain Queen after the mirror names her the fairest of all, finds refuge with the Seven Dwarfs and the creatures of an enchanted forest, and is cast into a deep sleep by a poisoned apple, a spell only true love can break. The production is billed as a show for all ages, full of stunning choreography and vibrant characters.
It's a new production for the company's 2027 tour, with choreography by Sergei Bobrov and Natalia Bobrova. The music isn't just Tchaikovsky, though he's the big name on the bill; the score also draws from Rachmaninov, Pugni and Grieg, so the sound shifts across the different scenes. The tour itself runs from early January to early March, visiting 20 cities across the UK, with Norwich being one of them.
For a bit of context, Varna International Ballet and Orchestra have been performing in Bulgaria and abroad since 1947. They're known for their award-winning soloists and a large corps de ballet, and the orchestra is led by Music Director and Chief Conductor Filippo Dessi. This Snow White is a fresh addition to their repertoire, built specifically for this tour.
