Free family event marking the start of the festive season with live performances, activities and the illumination of the city's festive lights at Norwich Market.
The Festive Lights Switch-on returns to Norwich city centre on Thursday 19 November, from 5.30pm to 7.00pm. It's the event that marks the start of the city's festive season, and the switch-on itself takes place at Norwich Market.
It's built for families, so it's a good one to bring the kids along to. The evening is more than just the lights coming on, though — there are live performances and activities running throughout, with the countdown to the illumination as the main event. The council is encouraging people to share their moments from the night using #NorwichSwitchOn and tagging @NorwichCityCouncil, so if you're taking photos, that's where they're landing.
While you're waiting for the lights, you can wander around Norwich Market and pick up seasonal food, warming drinks and local favourites. It's a handy spot to grab something to keep the cold at bay before the countdown begins. The whole thing is free, so you can just turn up with whoever you're bringing.
