Monthly group for adults aged 60 and over to meet, enjoy refreshments and take part in light creative activities at Norwich Theatre Royal.
The Social is a new monthly group for local adults aged 60 and over, and it's running at Norwich Theatre Royal on Wednesday 11 November. It's a relaxed and welcoming space to come together, have some refreshments, meet new people and take part in light creative activities inspired by arts, culture and conversation. The theatre describes it as a place to just be, with no pressure to produce anything in particular.
That's the core of it: the creative side is there, but it's not the only thing on the table. You can spend as much or as little of your time as you like on the activities, and there's plenty of room for just chatting over a drink. The activities themselves are kept light, so you can dip in and out without feeling like you've signed up for a full-blown course. If you're more in the mood for a proper catch-up than for picking up a paintbrush or a pen, that works just as well.
One of the best things about it is that you don't need any previous theatre or creative experience to join in. It's not about being an artist or having a background in the arts; it's about showing up and having a go at something new with other people. If you've never stepped foot inside a theatre for anything other than a show, this is a good way to get to know the place from a different angle.

It runs on Wednesday 11 November at Norwich Theatre Stage Two, on Theatre Street in the city centre, NR2 1RL, starting at 10:00am. Because it's a monthly group, it's something that comes around regularly rather than a one-off, so if you enjoy the first session, there'll be another one to look forward to later on.
