Stand-up show 'What a Bummer' by Morgan Rees, about the trials and errors of falling in love, at the Norwich Theatre Playhouse.
Morgan Rees brings his new stand-up show What a Bummer to the Norwich Theatre Playhouse on Wednesday 28 October, his first time back on the road since a sold-out tour in 2024. He's billing this one as his funniest yet, and the material stays close to home.
At its heart, the show is about the trials and errors of falling in love and keeping the spark alive. Rees draws from his own life to tell the story: he and his partner went on separate holidays—one to a Mathematics Forum in Coventry and the other to a Bear Party in Barcelona—and a massive revelation that followed forced him to re-evaluate everything. That spiral led to him being banned from Great Western trains, being fired as a Naked Butler, and ghosting Paul McCartney. Beyond the relationship stuff, he talks about awaiting an autism diagnosis and his experience as a white Welsh valley boy integrating into a proud Gujarati family.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, you might know him from elsewhere. He's supported Joanne McNally, Rhys James and Jayde Adams on tour, was a finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards, and hosts the podcasts My Bad and Chatting With Cherubs alongside Josh Jones and Gearóid Farrelly. He's also built up a following online, so this is a chance to see the live version of the comedy you've probably come across on your feed.
