Christmas pantomime about siblings Pip and Pelle who set off on an adventure to save their Swedish village from the Snow Queen's curse.
The Snow Queen runs at the Norwich Theatre Playhouse from 10 to 20 December, a pantomime set in the small Swedish village of Snödal. In Snödal, winter has arrived and stays every single day, and the story centres on the Snow Queen, whose broken heart cursed the land with endless snow and ice and shattered the village's magical talisman. Siblings Pip and Pelle set off on an adventure to find it and save their home just in time for Christmas, picking up some unlikely companions along the way: Johan the Moose, a formidable band of Vikings, and a crowd of naughty, mischievous, snowball-throwing elves. There's also plenty of time for fika, the Swedish tradition of coffee and cake.
It's a pantomime, so expect the usual energy, but the Swedish setting gives it a distinct flavour. The show runs for about an hour with no interval, which makes it an easy one to fit in during the December rush. It's recommended for ages five and over, though younger children are welcome at their parents' or carers' discretion.
