Stand-up show by Paddy Young, star of Saturday Night Live UK, touring his new show about his romantic misadventures.
Paddy Young brings his new stand-up show, Will Sir Be Laughing Alone?, to Norwich Theatre Playhouse on Thursday 12 November. It's a brand new hour he's taking on the road, and Norwich is one of the stops.
You might know him from Saturday Night Live UK, where he's recently been hosting 'Weekend Update'. Beyond that, he's picked up bit-parts in Everyone Else Burns and Mitchell And Webb Are Not Helping. The critics have been on board too: The Independent called him 'one of British comedy's most intriguing new voices' and Rolling Stone said he's 'surely on the road to stardom'.
The show draws on his own romantic misadventures. He describes himself as someone who's fallen in love more times than most and fumbled every single one, and admits some of his ideas are so funny they scare him. It opens on the thought that while people are born alone and die alone, the part in between is what matters. He's also quite open about where he's coming from: he says he's sick of the London and Edinburgh intelligentsia being the only ones allowed to hear his thoughts and wants the 'pigs in the provinces' to hear them too. He's from the provinces himself, though he won't be playing his hometown of Scarborough, whom he calls 'ungrateful'.

It's a full show, not a short set, so you'll want to leave some time around it. It starts at 7:30pm and runs for about two hours with an interval. Tickets start from £22.26, though the official site currently lists it as sold out, so you might need to keep an eye out for returns.
