Book presentation of 'The Salt King' by Natasha Pulley, hosted by Rym Kechacha, followed by book sales and a signing.
Natasha Pulley is at Waterstones in Norwich on Friday 30 October, talking about her new book, The Salt King. It's a folk horror story with biblical lore running through it, and it's set in a salt-mining town in East Anglia called Hreodwater. The story follows Avelyn Brocken, a Jesuit at the Vatican who comes from Hreodwater and returns to the isolated mine and its worship of the Salt King — the sleeping god of the mine — just as salt statues of people start appearing around the world.
Pulley is an internationally bestselling author, and The Salt King is her latest after The Watchmaker of Filigree Street and The Mars House. She's won a Betty Trask Award and was shortlisted for the Authors' Club Best First Novel Award, the Royal Society of Literature's Encore Award, and the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize.
