Icarus Vision member Shannon Crome plays The Lazy I, drawing on original material from both The Lazy I and Icarus Vision archives.
The Lazy I plays The Green Room on Tuesday 17 November, a night that brings together two different sides of the same local songbook. The Lazy I is the solo project of Shannon Crome, who is also one half of Icarus Vision, the Norwich alt-rock stalwarts. If you've followed them for a while, you'll recognise the name; this is Crome stepping out from the band to front the evening.
The set is built around a wide selection of original material, drawn from both The Lazy I and Icarus Vision archives. It's not a case of one replacing the other — Crome is dipping into both catalogues, so you'll hear songs from the solo project alongside tracks from the band. Mixed in with those are cover versions, and the night is rounded out with special guests. It's a bit of a hybrid, pulling from different eras and projects rather than sticking to a single record.
If you're familiar with Icarus Vision, you'll know the sound they've built here in the city. The Lazy I comes from that same ground, and the set leans into it. The combination of the two archives means the night covers a fair bit of ground, with the original songs from both projects sitting alongside the covers and the guest appearances. It's a good way to hear where the two overlap.
