Stand-up show by Tatty MacLeod reviewing her mother's life and contrasting it with her own, inspired by the viral 'Trench Lady' video.
Tatty MacLeod brings her new show, Things My Mother Did, to the Norwich Theatre Playhouse on Saturday 27 March. It's a stand-up hour that takes a look at her mother's life and holds it up against her own, working its way towards that old question: 'Am I becoming my mother?'
The whole thing grew out of a viral moment. Back in August 2025, Tatty posted a video of her 73-year-old mother digging a trench, which took off with 29 million views and earned her mother the nickname 'Trench Lady'. That's the starting point for the show, with Tatty reviewing her mother's life choices and comparing them to her own.
It's not her first time on stage. Her previous show, Fugue, was named by Time Out as one of its 10 Best Comedy Shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and went on to sell out multiple tours across the UK and Europe. Outside of the live circuit, she runs the Substack Tatty en Terrasse, and her first non-fiction book is due out in 2027.
