Annual celebration of science and technology with exhibitions, shows and hands-on activities across venues in Norwich.
Norwich Science Festival returns to The Forum and venues across the city from Saturday 13 to Saturday 20 February 2027. It's an annual celebration of science and technology that puts the city's research and innovation on display, presented by The Forum with the University of East Anglia as principal partner. It first ran in 2016 and has grown into the UK's third largest science festival; the 2026 edition marked its ten-year anniversary with over 90,000 visits, 97 speakers and performers, and 58 partner organisations. The organisers were named 2026 Festival of the Year at the Suffolk & Norfolk Tourism Awards.
The city-wide programme runs during the February half term, and the 2027 edition is built around the theme 'Reconnect' — reconnecting with nature, community, forgotten knowledge, or your own sense of curiosity, and exploring what it means to be human today. It's a broad mix of talks, shows and hands-on activities for all ages, so you can pick and choose what fits your day.
Opening night on Saturday 13 February has two big names on the bill. Gordon Buchanan brings Lions and Tigers and Bears, a family event from 2pm to 4pm, and Helen Sharman gives Space for the Future, an adults' talk from 7.30pm to 9pm. The rest of the week adds more to the list: Tiny Planet is a family event on Monday 15 February, and Relative: TOAST costs under £10. There's also It's the End of the World (But Not As We Know It), The Brain Bending Science Illusion Show, A History of Our Letters and How We Use Them, and Bears vs Gravity!.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Norwich and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

Past festivals have welcomed the likes of Jane Goodall, Hamza Yassin, Chris Packham and Steve Backshall, alongside more unusual things like a poetry performance about misophonia, a family puppet show about animal conservation, a science-themed afternoon tea and a panel on women's health. The 2027 programme follows that same pattern, with the main hub at The Forum, Millennium Plain, NR2 1TF, and other events spread across Norwich.
