A high-energy night of live poetry by four East Anglian poets, hosted by Lewis Buxton, from the TOAST performance development programme.
Fresh TOAST comes to Norwich Theatre on Sunday 8 November, with four new voices taking the stage. The night is hosted by Lewis Buxton, poet, performer and co-producer of TOAST, who'll be guiding the evening from start to finish.
To understand the line-up, it helps to know where it comes from. Fresh TOAST is a performance development programme for East Anglian poets run by TOAST, which describes itself as one of the country's most experienced poetry producers. Successful applicants work with the organisation to craft their set, and a handful are then invited to perform live in front of an audience. The four poets appearing this time are Lily Fitzgerald, Natalie Matthews-Graves, Isobel Morris and Nuala Motel-Casey. They'll be performing work they've developed through the programme, so you're hearing new material rather than a polished back catalogue.
That's the core of the night: new work, new ideas and live poetry. It's pitched as a high-energy evening, and with Buxton hosting, it should feel more like a live show than a quiet reading. The whole thing is recommended for ages 14 and over, and may contain some swearing, bad language and discussion of difficult themes, so keep that in mind if you're bringing anyone younger.
