Stand-up show by Amy Matthews about her first queer relationship, with free tickets for under 26s.
Amy Matthews brings her stand-up show Definitions of Toast to Norwich Arts Centre on Thursday 19 November, with doors opening at 7pm and the show starting at 7:30pm. It's a seated night, presented by Little Wander in association with PBJ Management, and carries an age guidance of 16+.
Matthews is a stand-up comedian and writer, and Definitions of Toast follows her quest to feel fury while navigating the joy of her first queer relationship after a string of several alcoholic partners. She weaves anger, queerness and life's absurdities into stories about relationships, processing emotions and unexpected encounters. It's the kind of set that starts with a personal premise and pulls in a wider range of things along the way.
Outside of the stage, she's a regular on the BBC, hosting the official English Heritage podcast and writing for Have I Got News For You on BBC One. Her five-star special I Feel Like I'm Made of Spiders aired on ITVx, and she's toured as support for Ed Byrne, Josh Widdicombe, Suzi Ruffell, Tom Allen, Sarah Keyworth, Jason Manford, Tom Davis and Jessica Fostekew. She's also appeared on Comedy Central Live, Gifted (BBC) and the BAFTA-winning Scot Squad. Critics have described her as drily funny, giddily quirky and technically flawless, treading the line between stand-up and troubadour.
