Stand-up show 'Pizazz' from Background Singer, in which Christopher Hall reflects on his life-of-the-party past.
Christopher Hall brings his stand-up show Pizazz to the Norwich Theatre Playhouse on Saturday 31 October, starting at 8:00 pm. If you recognise him from the Background Singer videos he did with his sister Lizzie, you've seen him at his most recognisable; Pizazz is his most theatrical, joyous and self-reflective show yet, and it's described as a glamorous night with a high possibility of dancing.
There's a bit of a life story to it. Hall describes himself as once first on the dancefloor and last on the night bus, and now in his early to mid-thirties, he spends the show reflecting on that younger, life-of-the-party self. He started by putting on shows in the front room for his parents, then spent his twenties in dance-offs in Soho's gay bars and performing in musicals on cruise ships. He's billed himself as a 'Showman, Jester, Attention Chaser', and that theatrical streak runs right through the set.
Beyond the Background Singer videos, he's collaborated with the Sugababes, Natasha Bedingfield, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Shania Twain, and he co-hosts the Stay Hydrated podcast with Lizzie. He's built a huge online following too, with over 12 million likes and 50 million views across characters like 'Your Cat' and 'The Millennial', and he's performed at the Edinburgh Fringe and on ITV's Lorraine. Pizazz pulls from that background, combining the stand-up with the showmanship he's known for.
